 Plan lessons and instruct the students in the subject of history and geography
using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and
field studies
 Prepare subject material for presentation to students according to our approved
 Design, implement and teach students via distance or online courses
 Assess students’ abilities, strengths, and weaknesses
 Prepare, administer and grade students’ assignments and exams
 Evaluate students’ academic progress and discuss results with parents and
school officials
 Work with individual students to challenge them and to improve their abilities
 Ontario Teacher’s Certificate
 A bachelor’s degree in Education
 5+ years of experience teaching in secondary schools in humanities subjects
 Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
 Committed to ongoing professional growth, and be willing to work in a
collaborative professional community
 Empathetic and dedicated to students’ learning, growth and development
 Commitment to engage, challenge and inspire young learners
 Able to effectively manage and foster a positive learning environment
 Highly motivated and energetic
 Flexibility, accountability and integrity
 Able to interact with students, parents and teachers cheerfully, courteously,
patiently and with discretion
 Able to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
 Strong organizational and time management skills
